Pelipper is a pelican-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the evolved form of Wingull.

Information[edit]

Pelipper evolves from Wingull at Level 25. It acts as a delivery service that carries small Pokémon and eggs within its massive bill. Pelipper also skims the wave tops in search of flood while flying, dipping its bill into the water to collect prey with water and quickly swallow it in one gulp. It also uses its bill to protect its young. Pelipper build their nests at sheep cliffs facing the sea, just as they did as Wingull. Pelipper bobs on waves to rest its wings on days with calm waters.

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, one early episode of the Hoenn series featured an unofficial gym run by a trainer named Anthony who owned a Pelipper that he used to cheat by stuffing its bill with Poké Balls containing small Pokémon. Pelipper was also one of the Pokémon that Winona used during her gym battle with Ash, and this particular Pelipper was able to use Steel Wing to negate its vulnerability to electric attacks. They have also made a variety of other minor appearances.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Pelipper appeared in the Ruby/Sapphire arc belonging to Sean of Team Aqua, which he usually rode around on. Mr. Briney's Wingull, Peeko, also evolved into a Pelipper at some point between that arc and their reappearance in the FireRed/LeafGreem arc.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a combination of "pelican" and "skipper".
