Debut Kirby Super Star

Marx is a character in the Kirby series who most notably appeared as the final boss of the Milky Way Wishes game within Kirby Super Star. He wears a jester hat, a red bow tie, and over sized shoes. His body is round and pink. In his more powerful form, he grows rainbow-colored wings.

Background[edit]

Marx lived on Pop Star and dreamed of ruling the planet. When the sun and moon began to fight in Milky Way Wishes, Marx told Kirby that he could summon NOVA if he activated the dream fountain on every planet.

When Kirby was about to ask for his wish, Marx bumped him out of the way and wished to rule Pop Star. NOVA granted Marx enough power to rule the planet, but Kirby defeated him before he could conquer the planet.

In Kirby Mass Attack, Marx reappeared as the final boss faced in the Kirby Brawlball subgame. Marx also appeared as a Dream Friend (available through the game's first updated) in Kirby Star Allies. It was said that he sensed danger from afar and decided to help. It was also said that he would be friend Kirby so long as he's well-fed.

Abilities[edit]

Marx's abilities before his wish was granted are unknown. NOVA granted him a wide range of abilities. Perhaps most prominent is the ability to teleport and fly.

Marx has an ability of attacks. He can throw the seeds of quick-growing, thorny vines; throw spinning blades; and shoot a freezing orb. When at the side of the screen, he can shoot a volley of energy arrows or a giant energy beam. Perhaps most powerful is his ability to open his body to reveal a black hole.

Other Appearances[edit]

Video Games[edit]

  • In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Marx appears as a boss character, where he fights mostly the same as in his original appearance. In Classic Mode, he is the final boss of the routes of Kirby, Rosalina & Luma and Inkling. Within the Adventure Mode, he is fought within the Dark Realm's Mysterious Dimension. His appearance is accompanied by two Primary Spirits. The first, an Advanced Spirit of Marx in his jester form, is acquired by defeating Marx in Adventure Mode. After leveling that Spirit up to Level 99, it can be enhanced into the second Spirit, a Legend-rank Spirit of Marx's true form which also enhances the strength of magic attacks. Marx's hat can also be bought for Mii Fighters, and his boss theme (which was also part of the soundtrack of Super Smash Bros. Brawl) is also present in the game.
