Mario Kart Arcade VR is a virtual reality kart-racing game that was released for arcades in 2017 and 2018. It is the fourth installment to the Mario Kart Arcade GP subseries of the overall Mario Kart subseries, and it is the first virtual reality Mario game.

Gameplay[edit]

This game utilizes the controls of the previous Mario Kart games when it comes to driving the kart. The interface now comes in the form of a virtual reality headset, and items are deployed with hand motions that are registered through an attachment to the player's wrist. Items are stored in balloons instead of the standard Item Boxes, and the karts also utilize gliders.

This game only has four playable characters, with each VR machine being connected to a different specific character driving a standard kart. Those characters are Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Yoshi. Bowser and Wario also appear as CPU opponents. The game also has only one track with a single lap that goes through several different areas such as an underground area and an airship area.
