Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey is a 3DS remake of the third Mario & Luigi game that was released in 2018 and 2019. It is the second in the series of Mario & Luigi 3DS remakes, following the 2017 remake of the first Mario & Luigi game (while skipping over the second one). The changes made are similar to that of the previous remake, including the addition of a new campaign centered around Bowser's minions.

Information[edit]

The changes made are largely similar to the previous remake. The graphics have been enhanced to match the style of the previous 3DS Mario & Luigi entries, and there have also been many tweaks to the gameplay (including removing the mic features). The giant battles have also been enhanced with full 3D models. Amiibo functionality has also been added. One amiibo can be scanned daily in order to grant the player an item.

Additionally, there is the game's second mode, known as Bowser Jr.'s Journey. Like the Minion Quest of the previous game, this takes place parallel to the game's main storyline and allows the player to control various minions of Bowser in their own misadventures with strategy-oriented gameplay. This time, the game is focused around Bowser Jr. as the main character.

Legacy[edit]

Although the remake was generally well-received, it became notorious for its low sales. It was also one of the very last games (and the final Mario & Luigi game) that AlphaDream worked on before declaring bankruptcy and shutting down, although it is unknown what role this game's sales played in those events.
