Luxio is a wild electrical feline Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It is the middle form of Shinx's evolutionary line and evolves into Luxray.

Information[edit]

Shinx evolves into Luxio at Level 15. It can channel strong electricity through its sharp claws which could contain enough amperage to cause fainting. It has been known to faint enemies even with a light scratch. Luxio live in small groups in the wild and rest their forelegs on others to communicate with each other using rhythmical electrical impulses from their claws. They can also gather their tails together to collectively generate powerful electricity from their claws.

Luxio evolves into Luxray at Level 30.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Diamond and Pearl, Luxio could be uncommonly found at Fuego Ironworks, while in Platinum it only appeared at Route 222. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at the Safari Zone's Savannah area when enough Plains objects were present.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Luxio could be recruited at the fifth through ninth floors of Far Amp Plains, and a tribe of eight Luxio lead by a Luxray acted as the boss at the Far Amp Plains's summit. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Vien Forest, Cargo Ship and Oil Field Hideout. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it was found at Wireless Tower and the Thunder Temple. Luxio also appeared in Pokémon Rumble at Fiery Furnace.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, Luxio has made mostly minor appearances, although it was featured in one episode of the Sinnoh series where it helped Ash's group to escort a Wailmer to the sea, where it evolved into a Wailord.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a wild Luxio was featured in several chapters of the Diamond/Pearl arc. It initially could not communicate with its group due to its claws being broken, so it tried to fight off Diamond and Pearl's Pokémon to prove its worth. After realizing the problem, Pearl helped it to communicate through an alternate way. It evolved into a Luxray before its next appearance (and eventually became Pearl's Pokémon).

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name seems to be a combination of "lux" (the Latin word for "light") with a play on "leo" (which means "lion").
