Herdier is a dog-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. It is the middle stage of Lillipup's evolutionary line and evolves into Stoutland.

Information[edit]

Herdier evolves from Lillipup at Level 16. This Pokémon has developed black, cape-like fur that is very hard and decreases the amount of damage it receives. Herdier is also a Pokémon known for its loyalty to trainers' every orders, and for ages they have also helped their trainers to train other Pokémon.

Herdier evolves into its final form, Stoutland, at Level 32.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Herdier could be found at Routes 1 (dark grass area only) and 10, Cold Storage, Victory Road Gate and P2 Laboratory.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Herdier was found at the meadow areas of Seabreeze Trail and World Axle's first basement floor.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • Herdier was shown in the Pokémon anime as one of Lenora's Pokémon during her gym battle with Ash. It ultimately lost to Ash's Tepig. In the dub it is stated that this Herdier evolved from her Lillipup (which defeated Ash's Tepig in their first match), although this is not implied within the Japanese version. Other Herdier have also made minor appearances and have been shown to act in the role of Officer Jenny's police dog for Sinnoh (a role traditionally filled by Growlithe in the previously-shown regions).

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name seems to be a combination of "herd" (which refers to the duties of herding dogs, which the Herdier's role in helping other Pokémon may be an attempt to reflect) with "terrier" (the breed of dog Herdier is based on).
