The Gust Jar is an item that was initially featured in The Minish Cap. Skyward Sword would later feature the same item under the name of the Gust Bellows.

The Gust Jar is a special jar that can suck up the air around it similar to a vacuum. This could be used to collect small items and suck up certain objects or small enemies that could then be launched from the jar, and the item was particularly effective at grounding certain aerial enemies. The Gust Jar had other uses depending on the environment. When shrunken down, Link could release small gusts of wind from the Gust Jar to propel himself along lilypad platforms. They could also be used to pull in large elastic mushrooms so that Link could catapult himself into other areas. The Gust Jar could also suck up dust or sand to possibly reveal hidden items. The Gust Bellows version is nearly identical to the Gust Jar, except that it only blows air outwards. It is mostly used to blow away piles of sand or dust, to stun some weaker enemies and to turn certain clockwork switches.
Appearances[edit]
In The Minish Cap, the Gust Jar was found in Deepwood Shrine and was the first dungeon item found in the game. It could be used to save Gregal in a sidequest, and it mentioned that he used to use his own Gust Jar to fight monsters, which implies that the Gust Jar may originate from the sky people rather than the Minish. In Skyward Sword, the Gust Bellows was found at the Lanayru Mining Facility.
In Tri Force Heroes, Gust Jars could be found in various areas. This version was not capable of sucking in air and could only blow air outwards. These Gust Jars could be used to propel other Links across wide gaps and were essential to solving some puzzles. There was also an outfit available called the Gust Garb, which had the effect of increasing the Gust Jar's reach.

- In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, the Gust Bellows appeared as an item. It could be wielded and used to blow gusts of wind at opponents to knock them back. Its appearance was accompanied by a trophy.
