Glaceon is one of the two possible evolved forms of Eevee (the other being Leafeon) which were added for the fourth generation Pokémon games, which brings the total number of Eevee's alternated evolves forms up to seven.

Information[edit]

Glaceon is an evolved form of Eevee that seems adapted for frigid environments. An Eevee will evolve into a Glaceon if it levels up near a certain ice rock that is located only at Route 217 in Sinnoh and in the basement of Twist Mountain in Unova. This, along with Leafeon's evolution, is one of the clearest examples of Eevee evolving to adapt to its environment. In side games, the evolution is instead done through the more standard method of exposure to a Frozen Rock item.

It can completely freeze its fur to make its hair stand like needles as a protective technique. Glaceon can also control its body heat to freeze the atmosphere around it and create a diamond-dust flurry with small ice crystals.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

Glaceon has not been found in the wild and can only be obtained by evolving an Eevee. Due to the evolution's reliance on the environment, this is only possible in Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum as well as Black and White. Additonally for Black and White, the player could receive their choice of an Eevee or any of its evolutions for the Pokémon Dream World by completing a minigame on Pokemon.com for a limited time, and from the Dream World it could be transferred to the synched Black or White Version.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be recruited in the first ten basement floors of Crevice Cave as well as the first four basement floors of Lower Crevice Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at The Ice Lake. In Pokémon Rumble, Glaceon appeared at Rocky Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it was found at Mt. Sorbet and the Ice Temple. Glaceon also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Glacier Zone.

Other Appearances[edit]

In Other Media[edit]

  • Glaceon made several cameo appearances in the Pokémon anime's Sinnoh episodes and made its first full appearance during the Wallace Cup, where it was shown that May's Eevee had evolved into one.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Glaceon was shown during the Platinum arc in a minor appearance being used by an opponent at the Battle Tower, and Platina's Rapidash was able to defeat it with ease.

Trivia[edit]

  • Glaceon's name is a combination of "glace" (meaning "ice", as in "glacier") and "eon", which is used as the suffix for all of Eevee's evolved forms.
  • Glaceon and Leafeon appear as a shared trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
