Captain Olimar is the protagonist of Pikmin and Pikmin 2. He is an employee of Hocotate Freight responsible for shipping various items across the galaxy, as well as a married man with two kids. During his vacation, an asteroid struck his ship - The S.S. Dolphin and sent him plummeting down on to an alien planet. With his ship torn in pieces, he was forced to befriend the local population of Pikmin. But on this planet he was quite a miniscule hero and had to fight off an assortment of giant bugs.

Upon returning home, he learned from The President that the company was bankrupt. However a souvenir he brought back -a simple bottle cap - was worth a large sum. He was immediately sent back with Louie to collect as much rare treasures to solve the company's debt. This time instead searching for a variety of familiar objects, like Duracell batteries and soda lids. In March 2008, Olimar will make his Smash debut in Super Smash Bros. Brawl fighting alongside his Pikmin.
