Characters in Mario Golf
This article is about original playable characters who were created for the Nintendo 64 game Mario Golf. These characters have only appeared within this game, with the exception of several minor appearances by Plum, and all four of them are humans. The characters are also notable in that two of them (Plum and Charlie) were part of the game's four-character single-player starting roster, which only contained two Mario characters (Princess Peach and Baby Mario rather than Mario himself).
Plum[edit]
Plum is a young girl with dark brown hair that is in pigrails. She is known for being a well-balanced golfer. Her drive is 190 meters, which is the lowest of all of the game's characters, and she has a straight shot trajectory.
She initially appeared in the original Mario Golf for the Nintendo 64 as one of the four default playable characters, and she was voiced by Jessica Chisum. She also made a minor appearance in Mario Golf for the Game Boy Color as the host of the game's dictionary. In this appearance, her hair was red instead, due to the game's graphical limitations. She was also the only character from this game to be referenced in the Super Smash Bros. series: she was represented by a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee and a sticker in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Charlie[edit]
Charlie is a young boy with shaggy brown hair who appears as one of the game's four default characters. His drive is 192 meters, which is just above Plum's, and he has a fade shot trajectory. Additionally, the wind does not affect his shots as much as other characters.
Sonny[edit]
Sonny is a male golfer who appears to be older than the other characters. He wears a brown cowboy hat along with a red polo shirt and white pants. He is a bright and happy person, and he is known to make puns based on his name. When the player scores an eagle shot or higher, he will toss his hat off and cheer with an excited "Yahoo!". He will instead take it off in shame if it is a bogey or lower that is scored. He is said to stick to a traditional play style. Sonny's drive is 220 meters, and he has a draw shot trajectory. He has to be unlocked in Character Match #3 and was part of the default roster in multiplayer matches. Sonny was voiced by David White.
Harry[edit]
Charlie is a male golfer with blonde hair that includes sideburns and a goatee. He typically wears a blue shirt, white pant and a blue cap on his head. He is very confident in his skils and is intent on victory. He is also quickly angered by bogeys. He has a drive of 240 meters and a draw shot trajectory. He was unlocked through the game's fifth character match and was part of the default roster in multiplayer matches.
There was also a character named Harry in some of the Mario Tennis games, but he is a completely different character than this Harry.
Maple[edit]
Maple is a young girl with short blonde hair. She wears a white and pink visor that bears the letter "N" (possibly short for Nintendo). She is very energetic and is said to be the best female player in the circuit. She has a drive of 225 meters (which is indeed higher than any of the female characters in this game) and a straight shot trajectory. She has to be unlocked by collecting 50 Birdie Badges.
