Camerupt is a deadly, volcanic camel-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the evolved form of Numel.

Information

Camerupt evolves from Numel at Level 33. They usually live in volcano craters, and the humps on their backs have actually been described as being volcanoes. Their humps developed from a transformation of their bones, and their body contains magma of 18,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The humps on a Camerupt's back sometimes erupt and spew magma everywhere. Camerupt also erupts often when it has been angered. It shutters just before erupting when magma builds up within its body. Camerupt have also been known to undergo violent eruptions every ten years, and researchers have been trying to find the cause.

Mainstream Games

Camerupt can usually be obtained primarily by evolving a Numel. In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, it could be found somewhat commonly at Route 227 and Stark Mountain. They also appeared rarely within the mountain in Diamond and Pearl.

Other Games

Camerupt could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Phobos Drill and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Ranger, it appeared at the Jungle Relic. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be recruited at the Giant Volcano, the third through fifteenth basement floors of Dark Crater, the first six basement floors of Dark Crater Pit and Shimmer Hill, and a non-playable Camerupt appeared as part of Team Flame. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it appeared at Crysta Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it was found at Faldera Island, the Ice Temple and the Fire Temple. A Cameript also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Lava Zone.

Other Media

• In the Pokémon anime, Camerupt was featured in one episode of the Hoenn series as Victoria Winstrate's main Pokémon. After being defeated, it went into an angry, volcanic rampage until Vito's Alakazam stopped it with Rain Dance to save the family cabbage patch. Camerupt have also made various other minor appearances.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Camerupt was featured as one of Maxie's Pokémon during the Ruby/Sapphire arc.
