'Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a free-to-play mobile spin-off of the Animal Crossing series that started running in later 2017.

Gameplay[edit]

As in most games, the player controls a customizable character who acts as the player's avatar in the game. This game is set at a campsite rather than at a town. The player's character can gather materials from the area to use for ordering furniture and amenities. It is also possible to befriend nearby animal characters and raise their friendship levels by talking to them and completing requests for them. By maxing out a friendship level, that character can visit the player's campsite. The player can also level up to receive rewards such as unlocking more furniture or animal characters.

Players can also interact with players from other games, who can visit each others' campsites. Other players can appear at random, but if a player registers another player's friend ID, then they can visit the other's campsite at any time. Throughout the game, the player can also obtain Leaf Tickets to use as currency. Leaf Tickets could be earned normally through playing the game, but they could also be purchased with real-world money through microtransactions.

The game also periodically runs special events, which give players temporary opportunities to earn special items or clothing, or more Leaf Tickets. More has also been added to the game through gradual updates.

Legacy[edit]

The game has earned over 50 million dollars worldwide, as of September 2018.

The next Animal Crossing game to be released would be Animal Crossing for the Nintendo Switch in 2019.
