Probopass is a mustachioed magnetic Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It acts as a new evolved form for the third generation Pokémon Nosepass, which previously had no evolutionary line.
Information[edit]
Nosepass will evolve into Probopass only when it levels up in an area with a certain magnetic field. So far, the only corresponding areas are Mt. Coronet in Sinnoh and Chargestone Cave in Unova. Probopass is larger than Nosepass and has a goofier appearance, with a larger nose and a tick mustache. Probopass exudes strong magnetism from all over and controls three small units that are known as Mini-Noses. It uses these to attack from three directions.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
Probopass has not been found in the wild and can only be obtained by evolving a Nosepass. Due to special conditions, this evolution is only possible in Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black and White.

Other Games[edit]
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be recruited at Sky Stairway. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Chroma Ruins. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it appeared at Mitonga Road and the Fire Temple. Probopass also appeared in Pokémon Rumble at the Rocky Cave.
Other Appearances[edit]
In Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, one episode of the Sinnoh series featured a character named Alan whose main Pokémon was a Nosepass that evolved into a Probopass while battling Ash's group at Mt. Coronet. The Probopass was stolen by Team Rocket, but Alan was able to retrieve it and use it to beat Fantina in a gym battle. Probopass have also made minor appearances in other episodes.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Cyrus had a Nosepass that evolved into a Probopass during the Diamond/Pearl arc while attacking Diamond, Pearl and Platina at Mt. Coronet. It remained as part of his regular team in later battles.
Trivia[edit]
- Its name is a combination of "proboscis" (a term used to describe forward-facing appendages such as an elephant's trunk, in reference to its nose) with "compass" (because of its association with magnetic fields).
