Game Freak is the second party developer responsible for the Pokémon franchise. Game Freak was originally a fanzine fun by Satoshi Tajiri, among others. During it's early history, it developed games for various other publishers, but favored Nintendo. By the time Pokémon was released, they were a second party. Once Pokémon hit stores, they kept developing that franchise, though they have done one non-Pokémon game since then (Drill Dozer).
