This article is about the Fire Emblem 7 character. For the protagonist of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, see Will.

Wil is a playable unit in all three stories of Fire Emblem. He is known as an archer with a happy-go-lucky attitude.

Background[edit]

Wil hails from a small village in Pherae. He lived next door to Rebecca and Dan, the latter of whom became Wil's best friend. Wil and Dan later ran away from home and embarked on their own journey. They hoped to get rich and use the money to support their families. But one month into the journey, Dan changed his mind and departed from Wil at Badon. Wil then spent four years traveling, afraid to return home and face his parents. Wil wound up staying at a village in Bern after all his gold had been stolen by bandits.

Lyn and her group later arrived at the village in "Chapter 3: Band of Mercenaries" of Fire Emblem. Wil offered his aid to Lyn's group in battle with the Ganelon bandits. Afterwards, Wil decided to remain with the group, and he playfully nicknamed the group "Lyndis's Legions". After Lundgren was defeated, Wil was still unwilling to go home, so he joined the Caelin army and became a squire serving Lady Lyndis. Kent began teaching Wil manner befitting a sworn man of Castle Caelin.

One year later, Lyn commanded Wil and her other knights in defending Castle Caelin from invaders in "Noble Lady of Caelin" (Eliwood Chapter 15, Hector Chapter 16). They then joined up with Eliwood's group and embarked on a quest to defeat the Black Fang and the mysterious Nergal.

Possible Fates[edit]

Wil has two different endings depending on which characters he reached an A-Rank Support with.

  • Default Ending- After Ostia takes over control of Caelin, Wil remains a knight of Caelin. He later becomes the commander of Ostia's archer division.
  • Rebecca and Wil's Ending- Wil returned to Pherae and joined Rebecca in serving Eliwood. He marries Rebecca and, in this ending, he becomes the father of Wolt.

Support Conversation Summaries[edit]

Wil can have Support conversations with six different characters.

  • Dart- Wil meets up with Dart during battle and recognizes him as Dan, but Dart denies this. In the second conversation, Dart wishes to battle Wil, but Wil can't even get his name right, accidentally calling him Dark and then Darth. In the third conversation, Wil and Dart both save each other from enemies. Wil brings up Dan again and mentions their history together. Afterwards, Dart tells Wil the story of how Fargus found him, basically saying that he might actually have had Dan, but if he was, he could no longer remember due to his amnesia.
  • Lyn- Lyn learns that Wil hasn't been in contact with his parents in a long time and orders him to write a letter to them. She finds out that Wil hasn't seen them in five years and apologizes for pushing Wil to write the letter. But then Wil tells Lyn the story of how he ran away from home to make a name for himself, and was too ashamed to return or contact his parents when he failed. But Lyn assured Wil that he had changed for the better and told him to write to his parents, and that they would just be glad he was alive.
  • Rath- Wil seems glad to see Rath again (as Rath was also a member of "Lyndis's Legions"), but Rath remains silent for the most part. Wil offers to fight alongside him as a team and goes to acquire more arrows from Merlinus. Wil then continued telling Rath more about himself and his skills, and how he wanted to be better to protect Lyn. Wil got Rath to admit that they were friends, although Rath also found Wil to be strange. In the final conversation, Rath teaches Wil how to ride a horse and swears to be successful by Mother Earth, Father Sky and the honor of his tribe, saying that Wil had taught him something important as well.
  • Raven- Wil meets with Raven and asks him how old he is, saying that he looks like he's around the same age as Wil, but he talks as if he's older and has the aura of an older person. Raven does not answer him directly, so Will assumes him older and starts calling him Senior Raven. Raven eventually admits his age, and Wil finds they are about the same age. Wil decides to keep calling him Senior Raven anyway, and says he will only talk to Raven normally when he stops scowling at him, until he finds that the scowling face was Raven's normal face. Raven later asks Wil if his cluelessness is just an act, but Wil does not answer and instead comes up with a new nickname for Raven, "Rave".
  • Rebecca- In the first Support conversation, Wil meets Rebecca again, but Rebecca does not recognize him at first. In the second Support conversation, she remembers and talks to Wil. Wil tells her about what he's done in the time since they've seen each other, but Rebecca gets angry at him and kicks him in the stomach before leaving. In the third Support conversation, Rebecca continues to be angry at Wil because of how both he and Dan left her years ago and never bothered to communicate with her since. Wil had thought Dan had returned to Pherae, so this news came as surprise. Wil apologized and promised that he would never leave again and always protect Rebecca.
  • Wallace- Wallace becomes enraged by Wil and his weak physique, so starts training Wil against his will. Wil attempts to escape, but Wallace soon catches up and begins his brutal training campaign, starting by trying to stab Wil with his lance and forcing Wil to dodge each thrust. Wil continues his attempts to avoid Wallace, while Wallace continues his attempts to catch and train him.

Trivia[edit]

  • In a Support conversation with Raven, Wil says he is 17. Since he is said to have left Pherae with Dan five years prior to Eliwood's Story, that would indicate that he was only 12 at the time.
