Debut Paper Mario

A baby Sparky who got separated from her family when she decided to find the Shy Guy's Toy Box, Watt is perhaps the most enigmatic of Mario's partners during the Star Rod quest. Mario saved Watt from the Big Lantern Ghost while he was in Shy Guy's Toy Box, as the Lantern Ghost had captured her and was using her to light his lantern. Despite being separated from her family and home, Watt was very brave and offered to join Mario's team, illuminating dark places and revealing invisible objects.

Background

Despite her age and her ability to generate light, Watt likes to be in dark places. She doesn't seem to give much thought to her actions and their potential consequences, but she is always brave enough to face whatever happens.

It is unknown (though likely) that she ever got back to her family, as the last time she was seen she was chatting with some Shy Guys in Shy Guy's Toy Box. She did manage to attend the celebration at Peach's Castle, however.

Gameplay

Outside of battle, Watt can be held by Mario to light up dark rooms. This can be particularly useful at times, because Mario can't fight with enemies while in the dark. Watt's power will also reveal ? Blocks that are otherwise invisible.

In battle, Watt has the following attacks:

  • Electro Dash - Watt charges her power and electrocutes an enemy. The attack cuts through an enemy's defense.
  • Power Shock - For 2 FP, Watt will electrocute an enemy in hopes of paralyzing it for a turn.
  • Turbo Charge - For 3 FP, Watt lends some energy to Mario, raising his Attack by 1 for a few turns.
  • Mega Shock - For 5 FP, Watt sends out a burst of electricity that may paralyze every enemy in the battle for a few turns.

Trivia

  • When you are upgrading Watt's rank, it says "He'll master..." instead of "She'll master...", though Watt is definitely female.
