*There is much confusion about Vivian's gender between the games. Though the English version is obvious about Vivian being a female, the original Japanese is far more vague. Though Vivian is also referred to as being in a group of sorceresses and sisters, Beldam calls Vivian a man (though it may be simply to be insulting). However both Vivian's character profile and Goombella's tattle describe Vivian as being male, though it could be based on hearsay since they are from the perspective of Mario and Goombella.

* In the Japanese version, Vivian is not a female... but a male! For the purposes of this site, the entry will remain referencing 'her' as a female, given the lack of evidence to it in the English version.

* Akie details it all as such: "Vivian IS indeed a male in the Japanese version of the game. At first I thought Beldam was just picking on the poor thing, too, but later evidence (namely, what [[Goombella]] says when you tattle on Vivian, and the description of him on the start menu screen after he's joined your team) does indeed prove that Vivian's a guy. They don't explain how Vivian turned out to be this way. However, I personally think that, judging by how Vivian and Beldam act in the scene when the Shadow Sirens (or "Kage Sannin-gumi" in Japanese) Vivian thought that Beldam might accept him better if he acted like a girl. So he tries to fit in better with his sisters, acting like he's a girl, too. He must get a bit carried away, though. Sadly, his tactic doesn't seem to work too well."

* Vivian has a Catch Card in ''[[Super Paper Mario]]'', received after completing the Duel of 100 in Chapter 6.  It can be sold for 378 coins.
