Editing Villager

The '''Villager''' is the name used to refer to the player's character from the ''[[Portal: Animal Crossing|Animal Crossing]]'' series. In each game, the player can choose the character's name and gender, and their appearance can also be customized. The name of Villager was introduced for the character's guest appearance in ''[[Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U]]''.

*In ''[[Mario Kart 8]]'', male and female variants of the Villager (based on ''[[Animal Crossing: New Leaf]]'' art) appeared as downloadable characters, available for purchase as part of the ''Animal Crossing x Mario Kart'' DLC pack. They reappear in ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'' as ordinary playable characters.
*In ''[[Super Mario Maker]]'', an 8-bit version of the Villager's ''Smash'' appearance was included appearance was included as one of the costumes that [[Mario]] could wear with the [[Mystery Mushroom]], and this costume was unlocked by scanning a Villager [[amiibo]] or as as random prize for completing the 100-Mario Challenge on Expert Mode or higher.

===Super Smash Bros.===

The Villager appears as a playable fighter in ''[[Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U]]'' and ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]''. The Villager's default appearance s a boy based on the design used for ''[[Animal Crossing: City Folk]]'' artwork. However, the Villager's alternate costumes all have different appearances, in order to reference the variety of player characters that can be created in the series, including famle Villagers. In battle, the Villager uses a variety of moves based on actions from the ''Animal Crossing'' games, such as attacking with a shovel or a bug-catching net, and  he also has an attack based on ''[[Balloon Fight]]''. In ''Ultimate'', the Villager is an unlockable character who could be unlocked through the game's variable-based system for unlocking characters or by awakening him in the game's Adventure Mode.

Throughout the series, the Villager has appeared as a trophy and two stickers (one for each gender) in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'' (as "Animal Crossing Boy/Girl"), two trophies (plus a trophy for their Final Smash in the Wii U game) in the 3DS/Wii U game and two Fighter [[Spirit|Spirits]] (one for each gender) in ''Ultimate''.

====Ultimate: Adventure and Classic Mode====

In the Adventure Mode of ''Ultimate'', "World of Light", the male Villager was seen in the opening cutscene among the forces assembled to oppose [[Galeem]] and his [[Master Hand]] army. When Galeem unleashed his beams of light upon them, the Villager was seen running around in circles near [[Wii Fit Trainer]] and [[Duck Hunt (character)|Duck Hunt]]. All three were overtaken by beams at the same time and fell under Galeem's control. The Villager was among the first characters who could be awakened. At a crossroads near the beginning of Adventure Mode, the Villager was one of three characters who the player could choose to challenge (the other two being [[Zelda|Sheik]] and [[Marth]]). If the player awakened one of the other two first, then [[Master Hand]] would block off the others, and the player would have to return for them later. Once battled and defeated, the Villager would be awakened and join the playable roster.

In Classic Mode, the Villager's personal route as called "Mistake to Underestimate". The theme of the Villager's opponents in this route is that they were all people who appeared to be unsuitable for combat. The pre-boss portion of the route was bookended by ''Animal Crossing'' battles, starting with a battle against a group of Villagers and ending with a battle against Isabelle. The boss of the route was [[Master Hand]] (aided by [[Crazy Hand]] on higher difficulties).
