Tutankoopa is a boss character appearing in several Mario games.
Background
The self-declared ruler of Dry Dry Desert, Tutankoopa is actually a servant of Bowser, who was given the Star Spirit Mamar to keep away from Mario during Paper Mario. From the moment that Mario enters Dry Dry Ruins, Tutankoopa shouts threats at him to leave and accidentally throws hints in as well. Mario eventually faces off against him and his Chomp companions on the bottom floor of the ruins, and despite Tutankoopa's magical prowess and supply of Buzzy Beetle shells, he is defeated and chased away by his own Chomps. He is still seen being chased by the Chomps during the ending parade.
Tutankoopa reappears in Mario Pinball Land as the boss of Shifting Sands. By hitting a pair of obelisks behind Tutankoopa, Mario becomes big enough to do damage to and defeat him, earning a key to Bowser's Castle in the process.
Trivia
- Tutankoopa is one of few Paper Mario characters to appear in a game outside of the Paper Mario franchise (the others being Goomba King and the Star Spirits). However, Toad Town was also featured in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.
- Tutankoopa is based off of Tutankhamen, an Egyptian Pharaoh.
