Tubba Blubba is a boss from the first Paper Mario.

Background

Formerly known as The "Invincible" Tubba Blubba, Tubba Blubba agreed to guard the Star Spirit Skolar for Bowser, in return that Bowser help him with his fear of the ghosts that lived in the valley near his castle, as they often played tricks on him. Bowser responded to this by using the Star Rod to make Tubba Blubba invincible. Rather than fear ghosts, Tubba Blubba began to eat them, which prompted Bow to seek out Mario's help. Using the Star Spirit that Tubba Blubba accidentally lost as a bargaining chip, Bow convinced Mario to stop Tubba Blubba.

Mario discovered the secret of Tubba Blubba's invincibility by raiding his castle and finding Yakkey, who unlocked the way into Windy Mill. After a dramatic chase scene, Mario discovered that Tubba's Heart had been taken clean out of Tubba Blubba's body (hence the patch on his chest), and was controlling the body from its hideaway. He chased the heart back to Tubba Blubba and made them recombine, then easily defeated him. Tubba Blubba gave back the ghosts he had eaten and ran away, promising never to cause trouble again.

Oddly enough, Tubba Blubba is seen during the ending parade being carried away by a group of Boos, with his heart hopping after them, despite his heart previously having been recombined with his body.

Trivia

• When fighting Tubba's Heart, it's helpful to use Bow's Outta Sight to avoid his "unavoidable" attack.
• Even when he's invincible, Tubba Blubba is constantly fretting, as he's afraid that he'll upset Bowser and have his invincibility taken away.
• Tubba Blubba is referenced in Super Paper Mario as the star of a show called "The Blubbening" which Francis is a fan of.
