'''Suicune''' is one of the three Legendary Dog Pokémon introduced in the second generation games. It notably was featured as the mascot of ''[[Pokémon: Crystal Version]]''.

=Information=

Suicune is considered to be the incarnation of the northern winds. According to legend, the three legendary dogs (at least the three found in ''Gold'', ''Silver'' and ''Crystal'') were originally three nameless Pokémon that died in the burning of the Brass Tower. However, the Pokémon were revived by [[Ho-oh]] as [[Raikou]], [[Entei]] and Suicune. Suicune had the power to instantly purify even the murkiest of waters. Because of this, Suicune was constantly roaming the Earth in search of water to purify.

Like all three of the Legendary Dog Pokémon, Suicune spent most of its time on the run, and it would usually flee if engaged in battle. Suicune was also the only one of the dog Pokémon that could run over water, and thus could be encountered by trainers while surfing along aquatic routes. Only in ''Pokémon Crystal'' (and the spin-off games) was it possible to battle a wild Suicune without it fleeing.

==Mainstream Games==

In ''[[Pokémon: FireRed and LeafGreen Versions]]'', one of the three legendary dogs could be found randomly throughout Kanto after defeating the Elite Four and obtaining the [[Pokédex National Pokédex]]. Suicune would appear if the player chose [[Charmander]] as a starter Pokémon. Entei or Raikou would appear instead if [[Bulbasaur]] or [[Squirtle]] had been chosen.

In ''[[Pokémon: Gold and Silver Versions]]'', the three legendary dogs were found in the basement of the Burned Tower, looking like they were preserved in stone. [[Gold]] accidentally awakes them after arriving, and the three legendary dogs run off and scatter throughout Johto. In ''Gold'' and ''Silver'' versions, Suicune made random appearances like the other dogs. However, in ''Crystal Version'', Suicune would be found at several predetermined places. It ran away every time it was seen without entering battle, until Gold met the Suicune in the Tin Tower. There it could finally be battled, and would not retreat. The Crystal Version also featured [[Eusine]], a man who was obsessed with capturing Suicune.

In ''[[Pokémon: HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions|HeartGold and SoulSilver]]'', Suicune acts the same as it does in ''Crystal'' (complete with Eusine pursuing it), except that instead of ending up at the Tin Tower it will travel to Kanto and can only be battled and caught when it is found at its final location at the eastern end of Route 25 (appearing there only after [[Misty]] left the area). If it is defeated instead of being captured, the player will have a second chance to pursue it after defeating the Elite Four, when it will reappear at the Burned Tower.

==Other Games==

Suicune appeared in ''[[Pokémon Stadium 2]]'', ''[[Pokémon Colosseum]]'' and ''[[Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness]]''. In ''Colosseum'', the Cipher Admin [[Venus]] possessed a Shadow Suicune. The Suicune could be snagged from Venus and, after it was purified, the Suicune could be traded into the third generation color versions. In ''[[Pokémon Trozei!]]'', Suicune could be found only from Random Agent Cards or in Mr. Who's Den. In ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon]]'', Suicune appeared as the boss of the Northwind Field. After being defeated, Suicune would transform the Sunset Wing into the Rainbow Wing if the player had obtained it, and direct them on where to find Ho-oh. Suicune could be challenged again to make it join the player's group. 

In ''[[Pokémon Ranger]]'', the Go-Rock Squad used a Capture Styler to take control of the three Legendary Dog Pokémon, to make them cause destruction, and the Go-Rock Squad would defeat them to appear as heroes. Suicune could be captured from the group when battled in the Fiore Temple. In this game it also showed the ability to create copies of itself. In ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness]]'', Suicune was found in the Final Maze. In ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky]]'', it would appear on one random floor out of the tenth through nineteenth basement floors of Treacherous Waters after accepting its challenge letter. In ''[[Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs]]'', it was the boss of Canal Ruins and could later be captured (but could not join the party) at Rand's House. Suicune also appeared in ''[[PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure]]'' at the Icerberg Zone.

==Video Games==

*In the ''[[Portal: Super Smash Bros.|Super Smash Bros.]]'' series, Suicune has appeared in every game starting with ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]'' as one of the Pokémon that could be summoned at random from the [[Poké Ball]] item. During its original appearance in ''Melee'', it would use Blizzard in the form of an icy shroud surrounding it to attack and potentially freeze any nearby opponents. Its later appearances replaced this with Suicune firing the Aurora Beam move across the stage. Suicune has also appeared as a trophy in ''Melee'', a trophy and sticker in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'', a trophy in ''[[Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U]]'' and as part of an Ace-rank Primary [[Spirit]] (with the added effect of boosting speed) that was shared with Raikou and Entei in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]''. When fought against in a Spirit battle, the Spirit of the three dogs would possess a trio of fighters in a battle where the floor was lava. Suicune was represented by [[Greninja]], Raikou by [[Pikachu]] and Entei by [[Incineroar]].

==In Other Media==

*Suicune has made several appearances in the Pokémon anime. It was first seen in the first episode of the Johto series, when Ash briefly saw one shortly after arriving at Johto, but it disappeared when he pursued it. Suicune later appeared in the fourth anime movie, where it worked with Ash and [[Professor Oak|Sammy]] to save [[Celebi]] after it was corrupted by the Masked Man. Its later appearances included one in the Johto series, in an episode about Eusine; the second episode was much later on, during the Sinnoh series where it had befriended two Nurse Joys. Shiny versions of the three legendary beasts were also featured in the thirteenth movie, where they were the guardians of Crown City and wound up clashing with [[Zoroark]].
*Suicune appears in the ''Gold''/''Silver''/''Crystal'' arc of the ''Pokémon Adventures'' manga where they served under [[Ho-Oh]]. They had been trapped in time by [[Pryce]] but after being free they went around testing trainers to find a new master. Suicune appeared throughout the arc battling all of the Johto gym leaders (save for [[Whitney]]) as well as Crystal and [[Janine]] before choosing [[Misty]], the water-type expert, as its trainer. Suicune was then utilized in the battle against Ho-Oh and [[Lugia]], and after Misty was knocked out the Suicune served Crystal for the final battles. Afterwards, the three dogs were free.
