'''Seadra''' is a barbed seahorse-like Pokémon that was introduced in the first generation games. It is the evolved form of [[Horsea]] and was later discovered to evolve into [[Kingdra]] in the second generation games.

=Information=

Seadra evolves from Horsea at Level 32. It is covered in spines which provide protection. Seadra's fin-tips leak poison, and touching its back fin causes numbness. Its spikes could also cause fainting if carelessly touched. Seadra can swim backwards by rapidly flapping its wing-like pectoral fins and its stout tail, and like its earlier former it hooks its tail to stay in place while sleeping. They usually sleep within bunches of coral and sting anyone who disturbs these corals.

They can also generate whirlpools by spinning their bodies which are powerful enough to sink fishing boats. Seadra usually weaken their prey with these currents and then swallow it whole. Within Horsea/Seadra society, male Seadra traditionally raise the young. They show no mercy to anything that disturbs their nests. Seadra have been discovered to have a gene not found in Horsea, which became a hot topic in the scientific community. Seadra also seem to be hunted, as their fins and bones are prized as ingredients for herbal medicine. Seadra evolves into Kingdra when it is traded to another trainer while holding a Dragon Scale.

In ''[[Pokémon: Red, Green and Blue Versions|Pokémon: Red and Blue Versions]]'', Seadra could be found by fishing with the Super Rod at Route 23 and Cerulean Cave, and in ''Red'' they rarely appeared on foot in the Seafoam Islands. In ''[[Pokémon: Yellow Version|Yellow]]'', Seadra was uncommonly found by fishing at Routes 12 and 13. In ''[[Pokémon: FireRed and LeafGreen Versions|FireRed]]'', Seadra could be rarely fished at Routes 19, 20 and 21, Pallet Town, Cinnabar Island and all of the Sevii Islands.

In ''[[Pokémon: Gold and Silver Versions|Gold, Silver]]'', ''[[Pokémon: HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions|HeartGold and SoulSilver]]'', they were uncommonly found by fishing with the Super Rod and surfing at Whirl Islands, and by fishing at Seafoam Islands in ''HeartGold''/''SoulSilver''. In ''[[Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl Versions|Diamond, Pearl]]'' and ''[[Pokémon: Platinum Version|Platinum]]'', they could be uncommonly fished at Route 226. In ''[[Pokémon: Black and White Versions|Black and White]]'', they commonly were found within the rarely-appearing fishing spots at Routes 17 and 18 and P2 Laboratory.

Seadra could only be obtained by evolving Horsea in ''[[Pokémon Pinball]]'' as well as ''[[Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire]]''. In ''[[Pokémon Trozei!]]'', it was found at Endless Level 8, Endless Level 25, Forever Level 57 and Mr. Who's Den. In ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams]]'', Seadra could be recruited at the thirtieth through thirty-ninth floors of Stormy Sea, Silver Trench and Grand Sea, as well as the thirtieth basement floor of Fantasy Strait. In ''[[Pokémon Ranger]]'', Seadra was found at Safra Sea.

In ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness]]'', it could be recruited at the first twenty basement floors of Surrounded Sea, the first eighteen basement floors of Miracle Sea, the first four basement floors of Deep Miracle Sea and the first forty-nine basement floors of Bottomless Sea. It also appeared in ''[[Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia]]'' at Sea of [[Wailord]]. In ''[[Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs]]'', they were found at Canal Ruins. Seadra also appeared in ''[[Pokémon Rumble]]'' at Bright Beach.

*In the Pokémon anime, Seadra have only made a few appearances in which they usually belong to opponents faced by Ash.
*In the ''Pokémon Adventures'' manga, a Seadra was first featured in a chapter of the ''Yellow'' arc where it attacked [[Bill]] with a whirlpool until Yellow saved him, using [[Pikachu]] to defeat and catch the Seadra. Yellow healed the Seadra and then released it. During the ''Gold''/''Silver'' arc, [[Silver]] also had a Seadra which had evolved offscreen from the Horsea that he previously lent to Green. He traded with Gold's [[Poliwhirl]] which caused both of the Pokémon to evolve.
