Trivia[edit]

  • When deciding on what game to make, the other possibility was a Star Fox game, as Sakurai wanted to take advantage of the 3DS by making a game that was like a third person shooter with both air and ground segments, despite the unpopularity of third person shooters in Japan. The choices were narrowed down to Star Fox or Kid Icarus, with Kid Icarus ultimately winning out due to Sakurai felling that the set-up of Star Fox would restrict what he could do with the game and also to appeal to Super Smash Bros. fans wanting him to revive a dormant series.
