Nintendogs is a pet simulator for the Nintendo DS.

When Shigeru Miyamoto got a puppy, he noticed he started meeting a lot of people. He decided that this would be a good premise for a game.

Nintendogs was very well received. It is one of six games that have received a perfect score from Famitsu.

Gameplay[edit]

When you start the game, you choose a puppy. Through out the game, you care for it. Player's must feed the dog, give it bathes, wash the dog, take it for walks, and other things. The player can also train their puppy for various competitions in the game.

The game has a multiplayer mode that utilizes the DS's wi-fi called Bark Mode. In Bark Mode, the player's puppies play together. If your puppy plays with a breed of dog that you currently can't have, the breed becomes available to you.

Versions[edit]

Each version has different dogs available at the beginning of the game. The game first released in three versions: Nintendogs: Chihuahua & Friends, Nintendogs: Dachshund & Friends, and Nintendogs: Lab & Friends. Lab & Friends was called Shiba & Friends in Japan. Later, Nintendo released Nintendogs: Best Friends that came bundled with a blue or pink DS. The last version, Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends, was released on June 16, 2006 in Europe and October 16, 2006 in North America. Dalmation & Friends starts the player out with the most popular breeds.
