Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is one of the official games of the 2010 Winter Olympics which acts as the second crossover between Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog. It is the sequel to 2008's Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.

Gameplay

As in the first game, the player controls a variety of characters from both the Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog series who compete in many different Olympic events. Among the events are skiing, ice skating, curling, hockey, and snowboarding. The controls of the Wii version utilize the motion sensor controls, while the DS version instead relies on the touchscreen. This game retains the previous cast while adding four more characters: Donkey Kong, Bowser Jr., Metal Sonic and Silver the Hedgehog.

Both versions are divided into Circuit, Single Match and Mission modes, while each version has slight alterations on multiplayer play. Both versions also have special Dream Events which are played in levels from other Mario and Sonic games, and some events are exclusive to each version. The Wii version has a Festival Mode in which players are pitted against boss characters from the Mario and Sonic series, while the DS Version uniquely has a single player story mode called Adventure Tours which has Bowser and Dr. Eggman teaming up for an evil scheme.
