Mahjong is a version of the Japanese tile game for the NES. The game might have been based on an earlier game: Computer Mahjong Yakuman.

Gameplay

The game allows the player to play a two-player version of Mahjong rather than the more usual four-player version. By taking tiles that are needed and dropping those that aren't, players can try to create a winning hand ("yaku" in Japanese). At the end of eighteen hands, the player with the most points is the winner.

The game has several different modes. The first mode is a free game with normal rules. The second mode has people put down hands as they get them. In the third mode, players have a limited time to select the tile they will discard.
