James McCloud is a pilot in the F-Zero series that serves in the Galaxy Dogs and is never seen without his sunglasses.

Background[edit]

James McCloud is the leader of the Galaxy Dogs, a mercenary flight squad that is often called into duty during wartime. The money he earns is used to support his wife and young son at home. Since peacetime generally means little work for mercenaries, James McCloud joined in the F-Zero races in 2670 after the races had been reopened with new safety protocols.

Although James McCloud didn't win the prize that year, he re-entered the following year in 2671. He hopes to win the prize money in order to support his family since he has had little work in recent years. If he wins, he plans to buy his son a racing model of his own.

James's F-Zero GX movie, Night Fever! James McCloud, shows him preforming on a disco dance floor in front of fans. Soon he trips and falls down and the audience starts booing at him. When he gets up he has his hand on his behind and then bows politely to the audience.

Little Wyvern[edit]

  • Number: 10
  • Creator: Space Dynamics
  • Engine: FGS-C024Mx2
  • Weight: 1390kg
  • Body: E
  • Boost: B
  • Grip: B

The Little Wyvern is a modified version of the fighters used by the Galaxy Dogs. James McCloud was able to convince Space Dynamics to create the machine for him. Though it was just a means of alternate income for him, for Space Dynamics was an experiment to test their acumen in F-Zero machine design. Their primary objective is to possibly capitalize on the potential of their fighter crafts in use of F-Zero crafts. The Little Wyvern itself is a well-rounded craft, but is lacking in a solid body structure.

Trivia[edit]

  • James McCloud is effectively a cameo of Star Fox's James McCloud, the father of Fox McCloud. James even wears the same sunglasses and outfit as his Star Fox counterpart. Furthering the parallel is the fact he has a wife and son, the Galaxy Dogs (a parody of Star Fox), and Space Dynamics (which is Airspace Dynamics in Star Fox). The Little Wyvern is also similar in appearance to the Arwing.
  • A trophy of James appears in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which mentions his similarities with the other James McCloud.
