'''Gyorg''' is the name commonly given to several type of creatures that have appeared in the ''[[Portal: The Legend of Zelda|Zelda'' series]]. All of the versions are a type of aquatic animal (even if they are not always found in the sky), and they most commonly resemble a type of shark.

=Information=

A Gyorg initially appeared as a boss in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask|Majora's Mask]]''. This one was a giant masked fish, and its features were more evocative of a piranha. It was the boss of the Great Bay Temple and tried to leap out from the water to attack Link with its jaw. It could also release smaller fish that seemed to be its spawn from its mouth. Link had to stun the Gyorg and then attack it with the electrical field of his [[Zora]] form. This wore Gyorg down until it flopped onto the surface and began shrinking down until it was gone.

''[[The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker|The Wind Waker]]'' introduced a normal version of the Gyorg as an enemy that was encountered in the [[Great Sea]]] occasionally. and they were referred to as "ocean killing machines". These Gyorgs had similar coloration (and even had their own masks), but they more clearly resembled sharks in particular. They have been known to stalk ships from a distance and move in to attack when the boat makes any sudden movement. Gyorgs could be defeated by projectile items such as [[Bomb]]s, [[Boomerang]]s and arrows. This same type of Gyorg reappeared in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass|Phantom Hourglass]]'', where it was only susceptible to cannon fire when it leaped into the air.

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap|The Minish Cap]]'', the boss of the Palace of the Winds was called the Gyorg Pair. This enemy did not resemble the Gyorgs of the other games beyond resembling a sort of aquatic creature, although they were creatures very unlike sharks or piranhas. The Gyorg Pair was a pair of creatures that resembled manta rays with multiple eyes and flew in the sky. There was a large red one and a small blue one. The red one was the female. While on the female, Link had to split into [[Four Sword|four]] to target all eight of her eyes while dodging the male's attacks. The male then took Link for a ride. He kept all four of his eyes closed, but he would slowly open one at a time at which point Link could slash it. Link alternated between the parts of the Gyorg Pair until they were destroyed.

==Malgyorg==

The Malgyorg is a land version of the Gyorg which appears in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks|Spirit Tracks]]''. It lives in the sands of the Sand Realm and travels through the sand as if it were water. They normally appear in groups of three and are almost identical to the ''Phantom Hourglass'' Gyorgs except for having a tanner color. They also are defeated by the cannon, and they can be forced into leaping into the air early when the train's whistle is blown, which could make them easier to target.
