Growlithe is a friendly Pokémon that is known for its brave and trustworthy nature. It is very territorial, barking and biting to repel intruders. It does similarly to protect its trainer. Growlithe has a superb sense of smell and will remember every scent that it picks up. It can even detect one's emotions through its smell. When it picks up an unknown smell, it will roar loudly to force it away.

It is loyal enough that it will not move unless given orders by its trainer. It will also fearlessly bark at any opponent, even larger ones, to protect its trainer from harm. It is likely due to these useful abilities that Growlithe are often used by police officers and burglars alike. Growlithe evolves into Arcanine when exposed to the Fire Stone.
