Duck Hunt is a hunting simulator for the NES. It came packed in with the NES for a period of time and required a NES Zapper to use.
Gameplay[edit]
In Duck Hunt, players use the NES Zapper to shoot ducks. Mode A only has one duck appear each round while Mode B has two ducks each round. Mode C features clay shooting. Clays are smaller and disappear quicker.
If the player hits all the ducks, a hunting dog congratulates the player and they move on to the next level. If not, the dog laughs at the player.
Legacy[edit]
The ducks from Duck Hunt are unlockable as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee and several of 9-Volt's microgames are based on Duck Hunt. Also, the dog from Duck Hunt can be shot in "Balloon Saloon" in Barker Bill's Trick Shooting.
Wii Play and Wii Play: Motion would later both feature shooting range minigames that seemed to be inspired by Duck Hunt in terms of gameplay. Additionally, the dog from Duck Hunt, joined by a friendly duck, is included in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U under the name of Duck Hunt. The Wii U version also has an unlockable stage based on the NES game.
