Dr. Mario 64 is a 2001 extension of Dr. Mario created for the Nintendo 64. It is unique in that it features appearances by Wario and various characters from Wario Land 3, and it was only released for the Nintendo 64 in North America.

Story

Dr. Mario has been busy curing various people with his Megavitamins due to flue season. Wario sees the doctor in action and wants to exploit the Megavitamins for money, so he decides to steal them. But upon reaching Mario's home, he finds that the Mad Scienstein had already taken all of the Megavitamins. Dr. Mario and Wario then initiate a chase of the Mad Scienstein, en route to his mysterious master, while encountering various perils across the way.

Gameplay

Dr. Mario 64 contains various modes from the original Dr. Mario. Exclusive content includes a Story Mode where the player can control either Dr. Mario or Wario in one of three difficulty levels. There is also a new multiplayer mode which allows up to four players to participate, and they can choose from one of the various characters who appear in the game along with Dr. Mario and Wario.

The game also has a Time Attack Mode, where all viruses must be eliminated within a time limit; Flash Mode, where only flashing viruses must be eliminated; and Marathon Mode, where the player must last as long as possible against a never-ending swarm of viruses.
