Donkey Kong Land 2 is the sequel to the original Donkey Kong Land and made as a companion to Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
Story
Donkey Kong has been kidnapped by K. Rool and taken to Crocodile Island. Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong team up and travel to Crocodile Island on a rescue mission.
Gameplay
Donkey Kong Land 2 is almost like a Gameboy version of Donkey Kong Country 2, with identical gameplay, the same story and the same worlds with some exceptions. Due to the Gameboy's limitations, Diddy and Dixie cannot use their new partnering attacks. All the levels have different designs from the Super Nintendo game, and two of the worlds (Crocodile Cauldron and Krem Quay) have been combined into one with one boss character being left out.
Legacy
Sequels
The game was followed by Donkey Kong Land III, which was strongly influenced by Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie's Double Trouble in the same way Donkey Kong Land 2 was influenced by Donkey Kong Country 2.
Remakes
The game was later released in Japan through the Nintendo Power system.
