A group of evil Tikis have taken control of the animals of [[Donkey Kong Island]], using them to steal [[Donkey Kong]]'s banana horde. DK and [[Diddy Kong]] team up again on a classic adventure to retrieve the bananas from these new foes.

The game is a sidescroller which is designed with similar controls to Rare's platformers. The main difference is the motion controls, as DK's movement is controlled with the Nunchuk controller's control stick, while shaking the Wiimote causes DK to slap the ground. Diddy also has unique moves inspired by ''[[Donkey Kong 64]]'', as he can fire [[Peanut Popguns]] and ride a jetpack. Many staples of the original series are reprised, including familiar level types such as mine cart chases and item quests such as collecting KONG letters for extra lives. [[Rambi]] is also set to return, although it is unknown if the game will feature other animal buddies.
