'''Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie's Double Trouble''' is side-scrolling adventure game that acts as the last game of the original ''Donkey Kong Country'' trilogy for the [[Super NES]]. Like ''[[Donkey Kong Country 2]]'', it stars the sidekick of the previous game, [[Dixie Kong]], paired up with a new sidekick character ([[Kiddy Kong]]).

=Story=

The Kongs have been celebrating after the most recent defeat of [[K. Rool]]. However, [[Donkey Kong]] and [[Diddy Kong]] go missing while exploring the islands. [[Dixie Kong]] investigates and teams up with [[Kiddy Kong]] to explore the islands in search of the missing Kongs. Standing in the way is the [[Kremling]] army, which apparently has a new leader in the form of [[KAOS]].

=Gameplay=

In this game, Dixie and Kiddy can travel freely across overworld maps. [[Funky Kong]] builds vehicles that are used to travel across the overworld and reach new worlds, and the vehicles are unlocked at various points in the game. There were various items to collect, such as various coins and [[Banana Bird]]s. Beyond that, the actual gameplay of the levels are mostly similar to the previous installments. Dixie retains her special abilities from the previous game, while Kiddy Kong acts as a powerhouse character like Donkey Kong once was. He can be thrown the air to break through certain surfaces.

Other characters are found across the overworld and in individual worlds. [[Wrinkly Kong]] again saves the game, while [[Swanky Kong]] runs minigames. There are also a variety of shops owned by the [[Brothers Bear]] that were used to earn more Banana Birds. [[Cranky Kong]] appeared only as a participant in Swanky's minigame in the original version, although he runs his own karate dojo in the remake.

=Legacy=

''Donkey Kong Country 3'' was accompanied by a companion game for the [[Game Boy]], ''[[Donkey Kong Land III]]''. ''Donkey Kong Country 3'' has not had as large an impact on the series as the previous two ''Donkey Kong Country'' games and marks the end of the original ''Donkey Kong Country'' series of games.

==Ports and Remakes Remakes==

*It was later released for download over the [[Nintendo Power system]] in Japan.
*In 2005, it was remade for the [[Game Boy Advance]]. This version featured a whole new world, a new boss, a new bear brother, new minigames and even a whole new soundtrack.
*It was released on the [[Wii]]'s [[Wii Virtual Console|Virtual Console]] on Christmas Eve 2007 in America, and Christmas Day in Europe (despite European releases usually being on Fridays rather than Tuesdays), presumably as some sort of Christmas special. It was not released in Japan until October 2008. The game was later released again thruogh the [[Wii U Virtual Console]] in 2014 and the [[3DS Virtual Console]] (for [[New 3DS]] only) in 2016.

==Sequels==

The next Donkey Kong adventure game was ''[[Donkey Kong 64]]'', although there were no more side-scrolling Donkey Kong games until ''[[Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat]]'' (not counting Donkey Kong Land III). Eventually, the ''Country'' title was revived with ''[[Donkey Kong Country Returns]]'' for the [[Nintendo Wii]].
