Cherubi usually take on the form of two fruit-like balls connected to a leafy stem. They are colored red to the sunlight. Cherubi's smaller ball contains nutrients which are needed for evolution and is very healthy. Cherubi constantly drain energy from the small ball until evolution. Because it is also delicious, Starly will often try to peck the small ball off. Once the ball has been drained of nutrients, Cherubi shrivels as a herald of evolution.

It evolves into Cherrim at Level 25.

*In the Pokémon anime, Cherubi was featured as one of Gardenia's Pokémon in several episodes of the Sinnoh series, and it lost to Ash's Staravia during their official gym battle. Another episode featured it as one of the main Pokémon of Marilyn, a trainer who considered only cute Pokémon to be enjoyable. Cherubi have otherwise made various minor appearances.

*In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Cherubi was also featured as one of Gardenia's Pokémon during the Diamond/Pearl arc. She used it with Roserade in a double battle against Platina, and the Cherubi's Grass Knot was able to give it an edge over Empoleon until the Empoleon used Blizzard to defeat them both.

Trivia
*Its name is a combination of "cherry" (due to its fruitlike appearance) with "cherubic" (which means innocent or childlike, likely due to the Pokémon being young).
