The Cane of Somaria (also known as the Staff of Somaria) is an item that has appeared in several The Legend of Zelda games.

Information

The Cane of Somaria is a red cane with mysterious powers. It can primarily create red blocks when waved. The blocks have a variety of uses depending on the context: they can hold down switches, fill certain gaps and act as shields. In A Link to the Past, the cane could additionally produce larger red platforms to run along certain rails. However, the cane can only produce one block at a time, and when Link waves the cane to produce a new block, the original will disappear.

Appearances

In A Link to the Past, the Cane of Somaria was found at Mystery Mire. It could be primarily used to navigate Turtle Rock. The cane has some properties exclusively in this version; using it drains some magic power, and once a block dissipates it will fire a set of four fireballs in different directions. In Oracle of Ages, it was found at the Crown Dungeon.
