Calill is a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and its sequel, Radiant Dawn.

Background[edit]

Calill was a mage who originally hailed from the countryside. However, she later moved to an urban area and was able to adapt her personality and lifestyle to that of the city life. She became glamorous and somewhat conceited about her combination of looks and magical prowess. At one point, she also had some type of relationship with Largo. The full extent of their original relationship is uncertain (It is not likely they were romantically involved as of Path of Radiance due to her flirting with Geoffrey; and Tauroneo guesses that Calill is an "old flame" of Largo's).

In Path of Radiance, Calill was first seen in "Chapter 14: Training". She stopped at a house in a Begnion field after a shopping spree and was looking for the nearest city. She gave Spirit Dust to whoever visited the house during the chapter. Later on, in "Chapter 20: Defending Talrega", she approached the camp of the Crimean Liberation Army in Daein and offered to support them without disclosing her reasons. Calill wanted to be paid based on what the general thought of her performance and came to the revelation that Ike, the youth she was speaking with, was the army's general all along. Largo later joined up with the army in a similar manner in "Chapter 25: Strange Lands" in order to be near Calill, who supported his hiring. During their time in the army, Calill also gave lessons to the young mage Tormod.

After the war ended, Calill and Largo decided to remain in Crimea and open up an inn together there. They later married and settled down to have a family, adopting a daughter named Amy. They lived happily, aside from Largo suffering an accident that prevented him from fighting anymore.

Three years later in Radiant Dawn, she was first seen in the "Calill's Shop" Base Conversation in "Chapter 3: Geoffrey's Charge" of "Part 2: Of Countries and Kings" when Geoffrey stopped by their inn to pick up Makalov. Calill offered to help Geoffrey in his siege on Lord Ludveck's manor, but Geoffrey declined her request because he did not want to get Crimean citizens involved in the fight. However, Lucia asked her to help Queen Elincia if she was endangered. After Lucia was captured by Ludveck's men, the soldiers of Fort Alpea called Calill in, and she helped Elincia to fight off the attacking rebels in "Endgame: Elincia's Gambit".

Calill continued fighting alongside the Crimean Royal Knights in "Part 3: Intersecting Vows", and they joined up with Ike's group for the battle in "Endgame: From Pain, Awakening".

When the army was divided in "Part 4: Of Countries and Kings" after most of the world's population was turned to stone by Ashera, Calill could be sent to either of the three armies. If sent to the Hawk Army, she was reunited with Amy, who was also spared from Ashera's petrification, in the Base Conversation of "Chapter 5: Unforgivable Sin". She also found that Largo had been turned to stone. After the war ended and all the people were unpetrified, Calill returned to running the inn with Largo and Amy. Her smile cheered many.

Support Conversation Summaries[edit]

In Path of Radiance, Calill is capable of having Support conversations with three other characters.

  • Geoffrey- In the first conversation, Calill bumps into Geoffrey and is at first distressed until she realizes that her face is still intact. After introducing herself to Geoffrey, she realizes that love comes when you least expect it and dedicates herself to pursuing a relationship with him. In the second conversation, she gives gratuitous comments to Geoffrey and asks about Elincia, saying she should know her potential romantic rival. Geoffrey, mostly oblivious to Calill's intentions, describes Elincia as being perfect, at which point Calill becomes angry and decides to abandon a relationship with him, but at the same time vows to help him get with Elincia. In the third conversation, Geoffrey tells Calill about her past with Elincia and how they had been raised as equals, but now that she was publicly the princess, they were of two different classes and the romance could not work. Calill tells him he should stop living in the past and to seize whatever happiness he has in the present while keeping up hope for the future. Geoffrey surmises that he will be content with helping to rebuild Crimea and then watching Elincia's happiness from a distance. Geoffrey thanks Calill for her help, and she says that they have become good friends so he could expose his heart to her without fear, and she would stand by him until the end.
  • Nephenee- In the first conversation, Calill recognizes Nephenee's phobia of speaking due to her country accent, and claims to recognize this in Nephenee because she had a friend with a similar problem. Calill decides to teach her how to talk like a proper city lady. In the second conversation, Calill continues giving advice to Nephenee and bemoans that she hides her pretty face and figure beneath her helmet and all her armor. In the final conversation, Nephenee gives Calill a beddle nut, but when Calill knows the proper way to open it, Nephenee figures out that Calill once was a country girl herself. Knowing this gives Nephenee hope that she could eventually become as sophisticated as Calill.
  • Tormod- In the first conversation, Tormod pesters Calill to teach him more magic. Calill is annoyed with him, but she reluctantly watches him show off his magic. In the second conversation, Calill continues to refuse to teach Tormod more magic because of how brash and impatient he is. She snaps and tells him that if he keeps simply learning new magic spells without taking time to master them, he could accidentally maim or kill himself or a friend with one of his spells. This convinces him to study the basics so he does not become a burden to his friends. In the third conversation, Tormod shows off his magic to Calill, who is impressed and says she has nothing left to teach him. She says that she is now inspired to continue studying magic and tells him that how much further he progresses from here depends on his own essence. She then explains the concept of Spirit Charming to Tormod, and she convinces him not to go down that path to the great risk involved. Tormod agrees and decides to become the best average magic user.

Calill also has an inbuilt Support bonus with Largo which boosts her chances of delivering a critical hit if Largo is nearby (and vice-versa).
