'''Caeda''' (known as '''Shiida''' in the PAL release and ''Brawl'' or '''Sheeda''' in earlier fan translations) is a playable unit in ''[[Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi]]'' as well as the remakes/sequels ''[[Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo|Monshou no Nazo]]'', ''[[Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon|Shadow Dragon]]'' and ''[[Fire Emblem: Shin Monshou no Nazo|Shin Monshou No Nazo]]''.. She is the first pegasus knight to be recruited in the games (not to mention the entire series) and is [[Marth]]'s love interest.

=Background=
==Book 1==
Caeda was the princess of Talys and a capable fighter in her own right atop her pegasus. She had a strong sense of justice and defended [[Ogma]] when he was whipped by soldiers, which led to Ogma joining the Talysian army. When the War of Darkness began in ''Shadow Dragon'', Caeda gave Marth and the other Altean refugees sanctuary at Talys. She grew close to Marth and the two began to fall in love. In the first chapter, she was immediately playable when she requested Marth's help in fending off pirates who were attempting to attack her father. She soon left Talys with Marth's army as they made their way to defeat [[Medeus]] and [[Gharnef]].

During the adventure, Marth and Caeda had little time to talk. However, Caeda was also invaluable in recruiting others into Marth's army such as [[Lorenz]], [[Castor]], [[Navarre]], [[Roger]] (in a weirdly flirtatious manner) and [[Jake (Fire Emblem)|Jake]]. She did her best to look out for Marth. Eventually they spoke again after Marth slayed Medeus, when she congratulated him but seemed heartbroken when Marth showed no signs of wanting to see her again in the future. However, [[Nyna|Princess Nyna]] convinced Marth to man up and admit his feelings to Caeda as well as asking her to return to Altea with him. She accepted this and, after visiting her father at Talys, departed to live with Marth at Altea. Before leaving Talys, she swore a private oath that she would be at Marth's side no matter where he went, have faith in him no matter what happened and endure any hardships that would arise. Caeda also prayed that if Marth were ever to die, that she would be taken instead.
==Book 2==

Marth and Caeda lived together in Altea for two more years when Book 2 of ''Monshou no Nazo'' started. As their wedding date drew close, Marth was drawn away to deal with rebellions throughout the Archanean kingdom, and when he himself resisted [[Hardin]]'s decisions, Archanea launched an invasion of Altea. Marth's sister [[Elice]] stayed behind and allowed herself to be captured so that Caeda could escape. She met with Marth's army at the end of the fourth chapter and passed on the news of the attack. She then joined with the army, being playable starting in Chapter 5, for the duration of Marth's campaign during the War of Heroes. Once more Caeda did not really have much opportunities to talk with Marth, and [[Malliesia]] noted this following the war's end when she said that Caeda should be jealous of [[Tiki]]'s talking to Marth. Caeda did not mind and was only glad that Marth was safe. He apologized for making her suffer and told her that it was only because of her that he was able to reach this day, saying he could not go on to continue his duties in unifying the kingdom without Caeda's help. It was then that Caeda recited the oath she swore upon leaving Talys to Marth, concluding by telling Marth she loved him.

Marth and Caeda were finally wed, with Caeda being said to be as beautiful as an angel and the day being so joyous that she would never forget it in her life. With Marth being crowned fifth king of Altea and leader of the unified Kingdom of Archanea, Caeda naturally acted as his queen.

*In the ''[[Portal: Super Smash Bros.|Super Smash Bros.]]'' series, Caeda has been represented as a sticker (using art from ''Monshou no Nazo'' and called Shiida) in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'' and as a Legend-rank Primary Spirit (using art from ''Shadow Dragon'') in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]''. Her Spirit comes with the added effect of enhancing the player character's jumping ability. When fought in a Spirit battle, Caeda's Spirit would possess [[Lucina]] with enhanced jumping ability and fight alongside Marth in an area with severely strong winds.
*In ''[[Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE]]'', an amnesiac Caeda appeared as the Mirage partner of [[Tsubasa Oribe]] and acted as an older sister to her.
*Caeda appeared as a playable character in ''[[Fire Emblem Warriors]]''.

*Caeda appears in the two episode ''Fire Emblem'' anime, where she acts as a damsel in distress after being captured by the first boss in the first episode, and in the second episode she acts as the voice of reason in breaking up Ogma's fight with Navarre as well as showing jealousy of Marth's interest in other girls.

=Trivia=

*In ''Monsho no Nazo'' and ''Shadow Dragon'', she receives a Support Bonus from Marth.
*Caeda will die permanently if killed in any of the game she appears in (although canonically she is alive at least for the beginning of Book 2), in which case the game's ending will always change to have Marth mourning Caeda's death, which is blamed on the curse of the [[Fire Emblem (item)|Fire Emblem]].
