In the Adventure Mode of ''Ultimate'', "World of Light", Bowser was seen in the opening cutscene among the forces that were assembled to confront [[Galeem]] and his [[Master Hand]] army. Galeem chose to unleash a barrage of beams of light that wiped out all fighters on the field. Bowser was shown trying to fight it off with his fire breath, but he was caught in the blast as well. Afterwards, all of the fighters fell under Galeem's control. Bowser was found within the Molten Fortress and had to be fought as Giga Bowser. After Giga Bowser was defeated, Bowser would be awakened as his old self and joined the playable roster of fighters. He was unique among the unlockable fighters of that mode in that he was the only one unlocked through a boss fight and that could not be battled in his normal form.
