Bo is the mayor of Ordon Village who appears as a supporting character in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Background[edit]

In the past, Bo had some type of dealings with the Gorons and earned their respect by besting them in sumo-wrestling contests. He secretly did so through cheating by wearing Iron Boots, but he kept that a secret from his friend, the honorable Renado. He was also married. Although his wife died at some point, her stubborn nature was reflected in their daughter Ilia. As Ordon's mayor, Bo did his best to oversee the town activities and made sure their town looked good, especially when there was a chance to impress the rest of Hyrule. At the same time, he was somewhat weak-willed, especially next to Ilia. The more humble Rusl was considered to be moreso a leader by most of the village, and Bo himself respected Rusl enough to appoint him important tasks.

Bo had trouble dealing with several problems in Ordon at the beginning of Twilight Princess. Goats were getting loose, and monkeys were causing trouble for the villagers. At the same time, Bo was overseeing the creation and delivery of a sword to Hyrule Castle so that Ordon would leave a good impression. Rusl convinced Bo to let the young goat herder Link perform the delivery in his place. Things started to go wrong when Ilia got mad at Link and refused to let him see the horse Epona. Bo's attempts to calm Ilia were in vein, and he then began fretting that the delivery would not go through in time without Epona. This became moot later that day when the village was raided by Bulblins, who captured all of the children, including Ilia. Bo and Jaggle patrolled the village that night in hopes of finding the sword and shield so that they could defend themselves, as Rusl had been injured, but they were scared off by Link's wolf form. Once things started to settle down, Bo set off by himself to try to find the children, but he was alone and no longer very able-bodied, so he soon had to give up and return to the village.

Link returned to Ordon later and caught Mayor Bo by surprise. He brought Bo news of the children, who with the exception of Ilia were safe in Kakariko Village under Renado's care. Bo was relieved to hear that the children were safe, and he was then dismayed to hear that his own daughter was still missing. Link was seeking a way to earn the Gorons' trust, so Bo decided to entrust his secret to Link. He taught Link how to sumo wrestle and hen gave him the Iron Boots. Bo emphasized that he did not want anyone, especially not Renado or the Gorons, to know about the boots. Mayor Bo later heard that Ilia was safe in Kakariko, but he was concerned that he did not receive any letters from her. He assumed that Ilia had forgotten about him due to having a good time in Kakariko. Bo did not know that he was half-right, as Ilia was suffering from amnesia at the time. Once she regained her memory, she finally sent Bo a letter. They were all reunited once the children were returned to Ordon during the ending.

Trivia[edit]
