'''Beedrill''' is a large and intimidating bee-like Pokémon that was introduced in the first generation games. It is the third and final form of [[Weedle]]'s evolutionary line. It also acts as a foil for [[Butterfree]].

=Information=

It evolves from [[Kakuna]] at Level 10. Beedrill has three poisonous stingers on its forelegs and tail which it jabs at its enemy repeatedly. Of the three, the barb on its tail secretes the most powerful poison. They can fly at high speeds and often attack in swarms. After defeating an enemy, a Beedrill will often take the victim back to its nest for food. It is extremely territorial and can easily organize a swarm to attack anyone that bothers one of their nests. Its best and most quickest attack is to fly in at high speeds, strike the enemy with poison needles and then fly off.

In the first generation games, it could only be obtained through evolution. In ''[[Pokémon: Gold and Silver Versions|Silver]]'', ''[[Pokémon: Crystal Version|Crystal]]'' and ''[[Pokémon: HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions|SoulSilver]]'', it was rare and could only be caught in the National Park during the Bug-Catching Contest and by headbutting trees. It could also be found at Route 2 in ''Silver'' and ''SoulSilver'', and at Viridian Forest in ''SoulSilver''. In ''Gold'' and ''HeartGold'', Beedrill was exclusively found during the Bug-Catching Contest.

In ''[[Pokémon: Black and White Versions|Black]]'', it had rare chance of appearing in rustling grass at Route 12.

Beedrill appeared in ''[[Pokémon Pinball]]'', where it could be obtained through evolution. It also appeared in ''[[Pokémon Stadium]]'', ''[[Pokémon Stadium 2]]'' and ''[[Pokémon Colosseum]]''. In ''[[Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness]]'', a Shadow Beedrill could be found at Cipher Key Island. If the player snagged this Beedrill and purified it, it could then be transferred to any of the GBA color versions. Within the [[e-Reader]] line of Pokémon shorts and minigames, Beedrill appeared as an obstacle in the "Flower Power" minigame and was shown as one of the Pokémon knocked out by [[Gloom]]'s Sweet Scent in the "Sweet Scent" short.

In ''[[Pokémon Trozei!]]'', Beedrill could be found at Endless Levels 2 and 19, Forever Level 51 and Mr. Who's Den. In ''[[Pokémon Channel]]'', Beedrill showed up in Viridian Forest on rainy evenings. It could only be obtained through evolving Kakuna  in ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams]]'' and ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and Time|Explorers of Time]]'', while in ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and Time|Explorers of Darkness]]'' it could be found at the eighth floor of Apple Woods and the first twenty-one basement floors of Midnight Forest. 

Beedrill appeared in ''[[Pokémon Ranger]]'' at the Lyra Forest. In ''[[Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia]]'', it appeared at Vien Forest and Chroma Highlands. In ''[[Pokémon Rumble]]'', Beedrill could be found at Silent Forest.  Beedrill also appeared in ''[[Pokémon Rumble Blast]]'' at Misty Edgewater.

*In the first ''[[Super Smash Bros.]]'', Beedrill appeared as one of the Pokémon that could be randomly summoned using the [[Poké Ball]] item. It would fly offscreen and then return with a swarm to hurt most of the players onscreen. In following games, it was replaced by [[Unown]] which used a similar attack.

==In Other Media==

*In the Pokémon anime, Beedrill served as the antagonists for one early episode in which a whole swarm of them attacked Ash and his friends to avenge his attack on a Weedle. This ended when they were pacified by the Sleep Powder of Ash's newly-evolved [[Butterfree]]. Other Beedrill have made occasional appearances since then, usually in antagonistic roles as either swarms of wild Beedrill or as Pokémon belonging to rival trainers. Ash wound up catching one during the Bug-Catching Contest during the Johto episodes and gave it to Casey due to it sporting her favorite colors, since becoming one of her three main Pokémon. [[Gold|Jimmy]] was also shown with his own Beedrill.
*In the ''Electric Tale of Pikachu'' manga, Ash caught a Beedrill that was part of a swarm attacking him as an attempt to raise his Trainer Level, only to find it was not as great of a catch as he thought it was.
*In the ''Pokémon Adventures'' manga, [[Red]] and his [[Bulbasaur]] accidentally disturbed a nest of Beedrill and wound up being badly stung by them. Near the end of the ''Red''/''Blue''/''Green'' arc, Beedrill received greater importance when it was shown as one of [[Giovanni]]'s most powerful Pokémon which he obtained during his childhood at Viridian Forest.

*Its name is a simple combination of "bee" and "drill" (in reference to the vaguely drill-like stingers it bears).
