'''Aaron''' is the first member of [[Sinnoh]]'s Elite Four who appears as an opponent in ''[[Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl Versions|Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl]]'' and ''[[Pokémon: Platinum Version|Platinum Versions]]'' (as well as the ''[[Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl|Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl]]'' remakes). He specializes in bug-type Pokémon.

=Background=

Aaron was a young-looking member of the Elite Four who was known for being a big fan of Bug-type Pokémon. He appreciated them for being both "nasty-mean" and beautiful. He viewed Bug Pokémon as perfect and said that he took on challengers as an Elite Four member so that he could become as perfect as his Pokémon. Because of his ideal view of Bug-type Pokémon, he blamed any flaws or defeats he suffered solely on himself.

In ''Diamond'', ''Pearl'' and ''Platinum'' (as well as ''Brilliant Diamond''/''Shining Pearl''), he was challenged and defeated by [[Lucas (Pokemon)|Lucas]]/[[Dawn]]. He conceded defeat but hoped that they recognized the greatness of Bug-type Pokémon and realized why they were up against the Elite Four due to battling being a complex affair. As he lost with "the most beautiful and toughest of the bug Pokémon", he attributed his loss to not being tough enough and resigned himself to more training.

=In Other Pokémon Games=

In ''[[Pokémon Masters EX]]'', Aaron and his Vespiquen appear as a playable sync pair that could be recruited at random through the game's Sync Pair Scout feature starting in May 2022. He could alternately use Heracross or Drapion when faced as an opponent. He was featured in the Solo Event "Sinnoh Elite Four Assemble", in which the members of Sinnoh's Elite Four gathered on the beach after all of them had arrived at [[Pasio]], and they discussed their goals. [[Lucian]] confirmed that they all sought to surpass [[Cynthia]]. Aaron felt that he needed more training and planned to train alongside other Bug-type trainers. He also appeared as an opponent in the Champion Stadium's Sinnoh Challenge, which replicated the line-up of Sinnoh's Elite Four and champion.

==Other Media==

*Aaron has appeared in two episodes of the ''Pokémon'' anime. In the first episode, he trained with [[Red#Other Media|Ash Ketchum]] and his friends for an upcoming battle with [[Cynthia]]. It was shown that he had abandoned a [[Wurmple]] for being weak when he was a child, and his regrets about that caused him to pay more attention to his Pokémon afterwards. At the end of the episode, he was reunited with his Pokémon as a [[Beautifly]]. In the next episode, he was seen battling Cynthia and lost to her.
*In the ''Pokémon Adventures'' manga, he and some of the other Elite Four members made a brief appearance in the ''Platinum'' arc, where they deciphered hidden information within [[Charon]]'s notebook for Diamond and Pearl to use to stop Charon's plan to capture Sinnoh's legendary Pokémon.

*His name may be derived from 'arachnid'. His Japanese name is Ryou, named after the Japanese clethra.
*Despite his young appearance, he refers to the player character as a 'kid' in ''Diamond'' and ''Pearl'', implying that he is significantly older.
*In ''[[Pokémon: Black and White Versions 2|Black and White 2]]'', one television program on the Variety channel seems to be describing Aaron's possible background, as it describes a Bug Catcher and gym leader in Sinnoh who left his gym to join the Elite Four.
*In ''Diamond'' and ''Pearl'', his room at the Pokémon League is a standard-looking room with a fighting ring and a green color scheme. In ''Platinum'', it is more personalized, with a brown floor containing rocks, grass and a log.
