Lombre is a mischievous amphibious Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the middle form of Lotad's evolutionary line and evolves into Ludicolo.
Information
Lombre evolves from Lotad at Level 14. It is nocturnal and loves to pull pranks. This includes popping out of rivers to startle people and tugging on the fishing lines of anglers to annoy them. Lombre's body is covered by a slippery film which makes its hands feel horribly unpleasant. Lombre lives at the water's edge where it is sunny and sleeps on a bed of water grass by day before becoming active at night. It feeds on aquatic moss that grows on riverbeds.
Lombre are sometimes confused for human children. It evolves into Ludicolo when exposed to a Water Stone.
Appearances
Mainstream Games
In Pokémon: Sapphire and Emerald Versions, Lombre was found somewhat commonly at Route 114. In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Lombre could rarely appear at Routes 214 and 218 when a Sapphire cartridge was inserted in the GBA slot. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at the Safari Zone's Wetland area if enough Plains objects were present.
Other Games
In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, Lombre was found at the Lake only on the Sapphire Field. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Secret Storage 18, Huge Storage 5 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could be recruited at the thirteenth through sixteenth floors of Waterfall Pond, and a non-playable Lombre was also present at Pokémon Square which refused to evolve due to liking its current personality. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at Olive Jungle. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Lombre was found at Lake Afar. It also appeared in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs at Canal Ruins.
Other Appearances
Other Media
- In the Pokémon anime, Brock's Lotad evolved into a Lombre after falling into a well in one episode of the Hoenn series. Lombre was still useful in battle and continued to be used alongside Brock's Mudkip for combos in battle, although its apathetic treatment of a Mawile's crush on it in a later episode led it to look through the female Mawile's things. The Lombre found a Water Stone there, triggering its evolution into the more fun-loving Ludicolo. Other Lombre have made minor appearances.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Lombre belonging to Shelly of Team Aqua appeared during the Ruby/Sapphire arc. Shelly had it chase down Sapphire and Mr. Stone through the Petalburg Woods along with her and Amber's other Pokémon. Partway through the chase, Shelly evolved it with a Water Stone to make it stronger.
Trivia
- Its name seems to be a combination with "lotus" (a type of flower) with "hombre" (the Spanish word for friend, due to the Spanish influence which is more obvious in its evolved form).
