Tippi is the first partner to join Mario in Super Paper Mario.  She is a Pixl from Flipside who goes to Bowser's Castle to fetch him on Merlon's behest.  After Mario agrees to prevent the destruction of all worlds, Tippi escorts on his journey.
Tippi is the first partner to join Mario in Super Paper Mario.

Background
She and Count Bleck were once in love.  As Lady Timpani, she was discovered by Count Blumiere and the two prepared to run away together.  When Timpani became trapped between dimensions, Blumiere went mad with anger at the world, became Bleck, and set forth to destroy it with the Dark Prognosticus.

Merlon discovered Timpani and restored her in the form of the butterfly-like Pixl known as Tippi. She meets Mario when she travels to Bowser's castle to fetch him on Merlon's behest.  After Mario agrees to prevent the destruction of all worlds, Tippi escorts on his journey.

By tipping the Wii remote to point at the screen, Tippi will pause the action and provide a spotlight for highlighting points of interest in the area.  Tippi can locate invisible objects and make them visible (in most cases) or can provide tips about an enemy, person, or object.  Pointing the remote at Mario and co. will incite Tippi to provide advice about what action to take next in the story.

At the start of Chapter 3, Tippi is captured by Francis, who mistakes her for a rare butterfly that he can brag about catching online.  With advice from Barry, the group sets out to Fort Francis to rescue her.  After Francis has been defeated and Tippi saved, her immense trust in the group brings forth the fourth Pure Heart.

After Chapter 4, Tippi faints and is taken to Merlon to rest.  Merlon reveals to the group that Tippi was not always a Pixl (something mentioned in passing by Thoreau), but was a human girl he discovered locked between dimensions.  Merlon turned the girl's spirit into Tippi so that she could live on.

By the end of the game, Tippi and Bleck have both recognized each other, but continue to side against each otherWhen Bleck is defeated, Tippi asks that they spare him and she gradually rekindles their relationship, also revitalizing the Pure Hearts enough to defeat Super Dimentio.  When even killing Dimentio is not enough to stop the apocalypse, Tippi and Bleck sacrifice themselves to destroy the Chaos Heart.  However, at the end of the game they are seen sitting in a peaceful field together, Tippi once again human.

If Mario and co. return to Flipside after completing the game, Tippi will of course no longer be with them.  However, a robotic duplicate of Tippi (known as Tiptron) can be purchased from Francis for 999 coins after returning to his fort.  Aside from a slight difference in appearance, Tiptron behaves exactly the same as Tippi.
