One day Rudy descended upon a world hidden within a music box in hopes of conquering it. However, the people of this world were able to fend off Rudy by sealing his power within the five music boxes, and Rudy was left powerless in the temple. But before losing his power, Rudy was able to place a curse on the people of the music box world that transformed them all into monsters.

In Wario Land 3, Wario found Rudy's resting place. Rudy tricked Wario into helping him and sent Wario off in search of the music boxes by promising to let him keep all of the treasure that he found. Wario succeeded in returning the five music boxes to Rudy. With his power restored, Rudy then betrayed and attacked Wario to make sure that he did not get in his way. He planned to resume his conquest of the music box world and later the outside world after defeating Wario. But this was not to happen, as Wario successfully defeated Rudy by repeatedly throwing his own fists into his face. This also returned the people of the music box world to their original forms.

Rudy also appeared in Dr. Mario 64, where he had somehow occupied a castle in the outside world. He suffered from a cold, and he knew that Dr. Mario's Megavitamins could cure him, so he sent out the Mad Scienstein to steal the vitamins for him. Mad Scienstein was able to return with the Megavitamins, but he had both Dr. Mario and Wario in tow. Rudy was defeated, but when Dr. Mario saw that he had a cold, he decided to follow his Hippocratic oath and cured Rudy. This caused Rudy to jump for joy.

Trivia
Trivia
*Rudy was only named in the English version of Dr. Mario 64. In Wario Land 3 and the Japanese version of Dr. Mario 64, he was never given a name beyond being called "A hidden figure" in English or a Mysterious Figure in Japanese.
+
*He is the only Wario villain to have met Mario (or at least some form of Mario) so far.
*His hands appear to be disembodied in Wario Land 3. His concept art shows him with arms, and it has been indicated that the arms were left out of the game due to technical limitations.
+
*Rudy is playable in Dr. Mario 64's multiplayer mode.
*He is the only Wario villain to have met Mario (or at least some form of Mario) thus far and is the only Wario antagonist aside from Captain Syrup to recur.

*Rudy is playable in Dr. Mario 64s multiplayer mode.

*His size is different in both games. In Wario Land 3, Rudy is gigantic, but in Dr. Mario 64 he is smaller and around the same height as the other characters.

*Rudy is mentioned by Wario in Fortune Street. After building a circus on the game board, Wario will state that it will be the best circus ever, so long as "Rudy the Clown" did not show up.
