Pidgeot is a large and powerful bird Pokémon from the first generation games. It is the final stage of Pidgey's evolutionary chain.

Information
Information
Pidgeot evolves from Pidgeotto at Level 36. It can fly at Mach 2 speed and spreads its beautiful wings wide to intimidate its enemies. In fact, Pidgeot's colorful feathers have made it popular among trainers, who are captivated by them. It is said that when Pidgeot is in full flight, it is long gone by the time one hears the flapping of its wings. Its main weapons are its large talons, although Pidgeot is also capable of flapping gusts of wind powerful enough to bend trees. Pidgeot's well-developed chest muscles allow it to whip up a windstorm with just a few flaps.

One of Pidgeot's most well-known feats is that when hunting, it skims across the surface of water at high speed, picking up unwary pray such as Magikarp. Apparently, its keen eyesight is capable of spotting a flopping Magikarp from even 3300 feet in the air.

In all color versions, it does not appear in the wild and can only be obtained through evolution of Pidgeotto.

*In the Pokémon anime, Ash's Pidgeotto evolved into a Pidgeot during a battle with Fearow in its last appearance. It wound up staying behind at Pallet Town to watch over the local Pidgey and Pidgeotto until Ash returned for it (which has not yet occurred). Other Pidgeot have appeared under various trainers throughout the series, such as giant Pidgeot found in areas of the Orange Islands, Falkner's Pidgeot which was defeated by Ash's Charizard and a Pidgeot that was cloned by Mewtwo which became one of his followers.

*In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Pidgeot was one of Blue's early Pokémon and one of the main members of his team during the Red/Green/Blue and Yellow arcs. Later on, it was replaced by Rhydon and remained behind at the Viridian City Gym whenever Blue was away as one of its defenders. Professor Oak also used a Pidgeot (possibly the same one) when he disguised himself as the mysterious Dr. O at the end of the Red/Green/Blue arc.

Trivia
*Like its pre-evolved forms, Pidgeot's name is a play on "pigeon".
