Nidoqueen evolves from [[Nidorina]] when exposed to a [[Moon Stone]]. It has a sturdy and hefty body which is covered with needle-like scales, allowing it to pull off powerful moves such as tackles which send foes flying.  Its extremely tough, needle-like scales grow in cycles and stand up when excited. Nidoqueen never shows any signs of shrinking from any attack. They also use their body to seal off the entrance of their nests and protect their young from predators. A Nidoqueen is in fact said to be at her strongest when protecting her young.

It also appeared in ''[[Pokémon Puzzle League]]'' as one of the Pokémon that Gary could use in his second battle with Ash. In ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams]]'', they could only obtained through evolution, but in ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness|Explorers of Time and Darkness]]'', they could be found in the first twenty-nine basement floors of Concealed Ruins and the first twenty-nine basement floors of World Abyss.
