Guy is a playable unit in ''[[Fire Emblem (game)|Fire Emblem]]'' who aspires to be the greatest swordsman.

=Background=

Guy was born on the Sacae Plains as part of the Kutolah Tribe. Like all members of the Kutolah, he was trained to ride on horseback and wield bows in battle. But Guy ultimately discovered that his true talent lied in fencing. Three years prior to ''Fire Emblem'', Guy left his tribe in order to perfect his skills in hopes of one day becoming a master swordsman. However, he suffered from poverty during his training. This resulted in an incident where he passed out while travelling through Sacae. Luckily, he was saved when [[Matthew]] gave him some meat. Guy told Matthew that he owed him his life, something Guy came to regret in time.

Guy first appeared in the game in "Chapter 13: In Search of Truth". He had finally found work with a group of bandits hired by [[Ephidel]] of the [[Black Fang]]. But this did not last long, as the bandits were pitted against [[Eliwood]] and his group in Santaruz, and Matthew was among the ranks. If Matthew talked to Guy, he would convince Guy to switch sides by reminding Guy that he owed Matthew his life. Guy reluctantly complied. He remained in Eliwood's ranks for the remainder of Eliwood's quest.

==Possible Fates==

Guy has two different endings depending on whether or not he has an A Rank Support with [[Priscilla]].

*'''Default Ending-''' Guy continued to train to become the greatest swordsman in all of Sacae. His form became so perfect that people began calling him the Saint of Swords (which is odd, considering that Saint of Swords is the nickname [[Karel]] later goes by).
*'''Priscilla and Guy's Ending-''' Guy and Priscilla fell in love during the battles, but they were starcrossed lovers because Guy was a nomad and Priscilla a princess. Guy had no choice but to leave her and rode away before she starting crying. Her smile remained in Guy's memory forever.

*'''[[Karel]]-''' In the first conversation, Guy recognizes Karel as the Sword Demon and asks Karel to train him in the way of the sword. Karel simply tells Guy to be grateful for his inexperience, because if Guy was stronger, Karel would cut him down automatically. In the second conversation, Guy finally convinces Karel to train him by saying that he will be his opponent and battle Karel in one year's time. In the third Support conversation, Karel abruptly ends Guy's training, telling that if he got any stronger, Karel would kill him immediately and that he was already struggling to hold himself back from attacking Guy. Karel asks Guy to leave and not to challenge him in a year, but Guy stands his original promise, telling him that he will grow stronger and defeat Karel in one year's time.
*'''[[Louise]]-''' Guy meets with Louise when she is assigned to fight by his side. At first Guy is somewhat startled when Louise does something behind him, and he finds she was fixing his hair. In the second conversation, Guy and Louise talk about Sacae, and Guy tells her why he left home. Louise asks him if he misses his family, but he dismisses the question by saying he is a proud warrior of the Sacae and will not return home until he becomes a great knight. Louise asks Guy what his mother was like, and she says that she must have been a fine woman to have raised such a fine son as Guy. She says that if she and [[Pent]] could have children, they would love to have a son like Guy. Louise then gets Guy to admit that he thinks of his mother sometimes. Since Louise is automatically at A Rank Support with Pent, Guy is only capable of having two Support conversations with Louise.
*'''Matthew-''' In the first conversation, Matthew reveals that Guy still owes Matthew three favors, since their deal was one favor for each piece of meat Matthew gave Guy. Guy then challenges Matthew to a fight which would nullify his debt if he won. Matthew agrees but requests to choose the timing of the battle. In the second conversation, Matthew had won the battle by attacking Guy in his sleep. Matthew replies by telling him the story of a famous knight who arranged a duel with another knight, but he was then stabbed in the back by the other knight when he left. Guy says that is cowardice, but Matthew tells him it is the true nature of combat, and Guy should stop complaining about it. In the third conversation, Guy had received a bump on his head after trying to attack Matthew while he was sleeping, and Matthew tells Guy how predictable he is. He then asks Guy if his yearnings to be the greatest knight in Sacae was a dream or just a goal. Matthew tells Guy about all the dreamers who have had their hopes shattered, but Guy insists that he will see his goal through to the end and be successful.
*'''Priscilla-''' In the first Support conversation, Priscilla approaches Guy and cures a cut on his face, even though Guy notices it was barely a scratch. In the second conversation, Guy helps Priscilla when she falls from her horse. She thanks him by name and says she learned his name by asking [[Merlinus]]. Guy then gets nervous and leaves. In the third conversation, Guy awkwardly hints at a crush on Priscilla and says he won't pry into her personal affairs, saying that when he sees a woman in need, he just wants to help. Priscilla thanks Guy.
*'''[[Rath]]-''' Guy is lost when he meets up with Rath, and they find that they both hail from the Kutolah clan. In the second Support conversation, they discuss Lyn, and Rath tells him of her Sacaen heritage when Guy suspects her of being from Sacae as well. Rath then asks Guy why he left the Kutolah, and Guy says he left to perfect his swordfighting art so he could defend his tribe and his mother to the best of his ability. Guy later catches up with Rath and asks to defend him, wanting to repay Rath for helping him when he was lost and to fulfill his duty to his fellow tribesmen, and prove himself as a true warrior of the Sacae. Guy then struggled to follow Rath as he rode on horseback, ending on a comical note.
