Chingling only hatch from eggs laid by Chimecho when one of the parents is holding Pure Incense. It moves with flouncing hops and makes a ringing sound with each hop. Chingling emits cries by agitating an orb at the back of its throat, and its high-frequency cries can deafen foes, although it is also high-frequency enough that people cannot hear it. Once it starts, it can cry for an unusually long time.

*Chingling have appeared in several episodes of the Pokémon anime, mostly with minor roles during the Sinnoh series. One episode featured a magician who has a trio of immature Chingling that helped her with her acts, and Ash's group helped them to mature. In another episode, Chingling was one of the Pokémon belonging to Marilyn, a trainer who only used Pokémon that she considered to be cute.

*In the ''Pokémon Adventures'' manga, a Chingling appeared in several chapters of the ''Diamond''/''Pearl'' arc belonging to a [[Team Galactic]] grunt, and it engaged in a sound battle with Diamond's [[Chatot]].

*Its name is taken from the onomatopoeia for ringing a bell, and the usage of the suffix "-ling" due to it being a young Pokémon.
