When breeding, Chansey will usually give birth to other Chansey unless the parent is holding a Luck Incense, which causes the baby to hatch as a Happiny. Chansey themselves are known for being rare and elusive Pokémon, being few in numbers and difficult to capture. They are said to bring happiness to those who get them due to their kind nature.

It will not share its eggs with those who have evil in their hearts, but their compassionate nature leads them to share their eggs with any injured person or Pokémon that they come across.
